Teaching Ethics in the Classroom

Teachers in grades 6 to 12 can learn how to meet new CDE standards in Ethics education in just two days this summer, July 11 and 12 at the Daniels Fund, 101 Monroe Street, Denver, CO 80206.

On the first day, Colorado Humanities ethics scholar, Tom Gengler, and Mountain Range High School master teacher Brooke Tolmachoff will guide you through excerpts from Aristotle, John Stuart Mill, and Emanuel Kant designed to inspire students to explore their individual values and beliefs in terms of historical ethical frameworks. Our "Yes or No: How Do You Choose" curriculum will be available to you at the conclusion of the seminar for you to take to the classroom.

On the second day, the Colorado Council for Economic Education will propose real-world situations that demonstrate the connections between economics and ethics.  Materials from the Economic Council include the book Teaching the Ethical Foundations of Economics.

Seminar days are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with lunch provided.  The $75 fee includes one hour of Recertification Credit. For an additional amount, you can earn 1 CU ECONOMICS credit hour.
