Colorado Center for the Book

The Colorado Center for the Book is an affiliate of the Library of Congress Center for the Book. A program department of Colorado Humanities, its mission is to encourage a love of reading and books among people of all ages through diverse cultural activities. Colorado Center for the Book programs include Motheread/Fatheread Colorado, Colorado Book Awards, River of Words, Letters About Literature, Writers in the Schools, and also partners with Colorado Creative Industries to administer the Colorado's Poet Laureate program. Founded in 1989, the Colorado Center for the Book was originally part of the Colorado Department of Education. It became an independent nonprofit organization in 1995 and in 2004 merged with Colorado Humanities.
