Who
Writers and readers, young people and adults. The visiting authors are well-known Colorado writers who have won a Colorado Book Award or otherwise have been acknowledged for their contributions to the literary community. Schools, libraries, businesses, and cultural organizations serve as hosts.
What
A Colorado writer visits a community to present workshops, talks, signings and/or readings in libraries, schools, bookstores, and cafes. An author may engage students and adult readers in creative writing, or present on his or her own work to students and/or the general public. A program may have several workshops or presentations given by the same author.
Why
To connect Colorado writers with Colorado readers and to help students create their own writing with a published authors' inspiration and guidance.
Where
Readings and workshops by Colorado authors in libraries, schools, and bookstores. Businesses, schools, and cultural organizations may serve as hosts.
How Much
The cost for the organization is a share (negotiated during planning) of the honoraria and travel expenses to bring the author to the community. All Authors in Community programs should be free to students or offered at a nominal cost to the general public.
When
The Authors in Community program schedule is up to the host organization. We do ask that you contact us three months prior to the first program.
